Waypoint’s client is a leading organization in the technology sector, dedicated to innovation and excellence in their field. As a Junior Cloud Software Engineer, your primary focus will be supporting all facets of agile software design and development for capabilities integrated into a Data Warehouse. Your duties will encompass the development of new capabilities, testing, optimization, performance tuning, operation, and sustainment functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Communicating directions and providing guidance to junior programmer/analysts, as required.
  • Developing solutions that integrate or extend Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) products.
  • Evaluating project needs, determining tasks and durations, and generating and reviewing designs for technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute to open-source applications.
Requirements:
  • ​Bachelor's degree plus 2-years of relevant experience or Master's degree plus 1-year of relevant experience.  An Associate's degree plus 5-years of relevant experience or high school diploma/GED plus 7-years of relevant experience may be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position.
  • Computer Science (CS) degree or related field
  • TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
  • Proficiency in Java programming for distributed systems, with expertise in networking and multi-threading.
  • Experience with Apache Hadoop, Apache Accumulo, and Apache NiFi.
  • Agile development experience, ensuring adaptability and efficiency in project execution.
  • Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals and proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Perl).
  • Familiarity with source code management practices and tools, including Git and Maven.
  • Proficiency in enabling tools such as Jira for project management.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Testing tools like Bamboo, Jenkins, and GitLab CI/Pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Monitoring tools such as the ELK Stack (ElasticSearch, Logstash, and Kibana) and Nagios.
  • Familiarity with microservices software development techniques and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Hadoop/Cloud Developer Certification.​
