Job Description

The assistant to the dean oversees personnel and related administrative responsibilities for Kendall College. These duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Liaising with the Dean and Human Resources in overseeing faculty searches, hiring, and onboarding, including working with departments on adjunct hiring Assists with scheduling meetings, appointments, travel arrangements; drafts correspondence and provides administrative support for the Dean’s executive and scholarly activities. Processing and maintaining faculty credentials, including transcripts, verification of qualifications, graduate faculty status, and yearly CVs Overseeing the College responsibilities for faculty reviews and sabbaticals, such as maintaining the review calendar, updating departments and faculty on review status and guidelines, updating records, and drafting communications Provides support for Faculty Promotion, Tenure and Review Processes and credentialing documentation to the Office of the Provost Assisting the Dean with documentation for personnel matters, such as appointment letters for administrative positions Serving as the College point of contact for faculty and graduate student payroll, including completing summer funding forms Receiving faculty and student grant and other funding applications and liaising with OSRP on the administration of grants, fellowships, and other faculty and student funding Administering the D’Arcy summer fellowship program, including securing placements, outreach to organizations, arranging for mentors and housing, and scheduling student interviews Serving as the College point of contact for visiting scholars and working with the Center for Global Education, the sponsoring unit, and Human Resources to fulfill all responsibilities of the role Notifies departments of deadlines and other procedures Undertaking other duties as assigned by the Dean Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution 3 years of experience in human resources, higher education, grant or research office, or related field Attention to detail, professional communication, discretion, and a service mentality Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a field related to the work Experience working with complex budgets Physical Demands Minimal Physical Demands
