Overview

Electric Boat Shore Facilities Engineering Services (Department 701 located at SUBASE Groton, CT) is seeking an experienced Facilities Designer with an extensive portfolio of projects relating to all types of construction including: new construction, rehabilitation, and state-of-the-art modernization projects.

The successful candidate will work in a team environment to develop architectural construction drawings in accordance with established company and client standards along with collaborating with engineers on a wide variety of projects. In this role, communication is critical with internal/external customers, consultants, and contractors throughout the design and construction process. Project locations include: Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, California, Washington, Hawaii, Guam, and Australia.

Knowledge in commercial facility drawings to successfully compile construction documents to be issued to local and regional NAVFAC commands. Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for the following: existing trainer/classroom demolition, trainer facility outfitting (including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection layout), and trainer installations for use by commercial contractors.

The candidate must encompass highly developed leadership and decision-making skills under restrictive deadlines. This individual shall also have the capabilities to: create and modify details/sections to implement engineers mark ups, identify inconsistencies and coordination issues between architectural and engineered drawings, and use REVIT and AutoCAD to create and prepare accurate construction drawings based on schematic/design development sketches.

This job requires approximately 50% travel.

Qualifications

Required:

5 -7 years of experience in an architectural design environment Post-secondary education or equivalent to a 3-year college diploma in architectural technology On-site construction experience Knowledge of commercial mechanical, structural, electrical and ventilation systems, with practical knowledge of the construction processes used in these areas Demonstrated knowledge of architectural design principles and procedures Able to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred:

Previous on-site construction management experience managing multiple contractors Basic understanding of applicable government regulations and instructions Familiarity with commercial building codes is a plus

Skills

Demonstrated proficiency utilizing Autodesk REVIT Demonstrated proficiency utilizing Autodesk AutoCAD Experience utilizing BlueBeam Experience with PROCORE Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with commercial building codes The candidate should be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project Implement technical knowledge to cross utilize design programs
