The Sterile Processing Technician works as an integral part of the operating room team byperforming all tasks associated with the processing of surgical instruments and medical devices for surgical procedures. This includes the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization/high level disinfection; monitoring of environmental conditions, sterilization processes, assembly and dispatching of surgical equipment, case carts and emergency carts; and helps to maintain inventory and ordering of sterile processing supplies. This position is great for a current sterile processing tech who has or is seeking to be CRCST certified. 
Responsibilities

Prepares instrumentation and uses appropriate sterilization methods. Pulls surgery case carts daily and on call. Purging waste from equipment and sterilizing all tools according to specific protocols. Performs appropriate decontamination of instruments and equipment. Organizes inventory and ensures stock for proper tools for all procedures. Checks surgical equipment for leaks, broken or loose parts, or other defects. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

One year as Sterile Processing Tech Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
