Position Summary:

The Developmental Disabilities (DD) Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for supporting our Department of Developmental Disabilities by completing behavioral analysis documents and plans for individuals with disabilities. This position will also be part of a larger Individual Support Planning (ISP) team, where they can provide resources and recommendations for participants. This position will create assessments for both internal KVC participants and external individuals served by the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver. The DD Behavioral Health Clinician must have a person-centered approach and assist individuals with leading a safe and self-directed life. The DD Behavioral Health Clinician will receive clinical oversight from the Director of Clinical Services. This position has an expectation of 25 billable hours per week.

Location:

Omaha, NE

Education: 

Master’s Degree in the field of Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or other related field that supports application for licensure as a Mental Health Practitioner in the State of Nebraska.

Experience:

Two plus years of Developmental Disabilities, Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, and/or Mental Health Assessment and Treatment experience preferred.

Technology Skills

Requires Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs, and Outlook email. Experience with state mandated Therap database preferred.

Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP). Valid Drivers License Valid Auto Insurance

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Task Expectations:

The DD Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for documenting observations and outcomes throughout their assessment. Observations of behavior and needs are made to determine necessary supports. The DD Behavioral Health Clinician must complete documents including a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), Behavioral Support Plan (BSP), Safety Plan, and any other clinical documents that may contribute to individuals living a safe and self-directed life. Clinical consultation and oversight regarding an individual’s ongoing care is required and must be documented in a progress note on each occasion. The DD Behavioral Health Clinician meets with participants and caregivers, guardians, etc., in various environments (e.g., Home, Day Services, Extra Curriculars). The DD Behavioral Health Clinician attends annual Individual Service Plan (ISP) meetings for participants they have completed an FBA for. Works with internal and external case professionals to analyze current progress and provide ongoing recommendations for behavioral support. Maintains strong working relationships with KVC colleagues, consulting on individual cases. Collaborates with KVC Shared Living Specialists to implement and maintain a Behavioral Support Plan(BSP) for individuals. Provides support to Shared Living Specialists as behavioral situations arise for participants. Regularly communicates billable units for Consultative Assessment to the Director of DD Services toensure timely and accurate billing (25 billable units required weekly). Traveling to various locations in the Omaha and Lincoln areas is required, with occasional statewidetravel as KVC expands. Other duties as assigned.
