Job Summary: The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DPBS) at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a psychiatric physician to serve as Medical Director for the Eating Disorders Program in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The Medical Director will direct and grow eating disorders clinical services for the Friedman Eating Disorders Center. The Friedman Eating Disorders Center provides state-of-the-art, evidence-informed treatments of eating disorders (primarily anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa) by a multi-disciplinary subspecialty team of pediatricians, internists, nutritionists, and mental health providers (psychologists and psychiatrists). They currently focus on Family Based Therapy approach to their outpatient care model.

DPBS and the Friedman Center are expanding their clinical services to include proven treatment approaches in eating disorders. The successful candidate for this position will have an opportunity to develop these clinical programs which include Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Partial Hospital Program (PHP) and other programs. The goal of the center is to become a Eating Disorder center of excellence for the State of South Carolina.

The Medical Director will work closely with the Research Director (currently being recruited) for the Friedman Center in advancing the science of caring for eating disorders through research.

The Medical Director will provide supervision to pediatric and psychiatry residents, psychology interns, fellows, and medical students. Clinical services will be provided at the Friedman Center and/or via consultation as needed at the Institute of Psychiatry or Medical University Hospital. 

Minimum Requirements: Must hold a terminal degree: PhD, MD, or related.
