HybridCollins Aerospace Power & Controls Team is looking for an Associate Director – Product Line Engineering. This role involves overseeing the mechanical controls portfolio across various products for military and commercial programs. The Associate Director will collaborate with discipline and program chiefs, fellows, subject matter experts, and product integration teams to shape mechanical designs, systems, technology, strategic development plans, and our competitive positioning. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Mechanical Controls for Power & Controls strategic business unit.
What You Will Do:
Direct-line managerial and supervisory responsibility for an overall design team of approximately 30 engineers with 7 direct reports and several engineering service contracts.
As a manager, you will lead the mechanical and systems design team and assist in day-to-day coaching, work assignments, innovation and oversee the design process to ensure design quality within budget and timeframes.
Manage and secure skilled resources to meet various NPI and sustaining engineering needs.
Define and execute strategic plans with the integrated product teams, chief engineers, and value streams to develop electro-mechanical controls that meet internal and external customer requirements including operability, performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost.
Support the business by developing strategic roadmaps to achieve and maintain world class capability, securing internal investment dollars, and winning proposals.
Provide rapid response and root cause in product development and fielded products.
Develop working relationships with various engineering and business functions across business units.
Lead, mentor and help develop top engineering talent.
Develop and continuously improve the engineering disciplines, standard work processes and tools in support of best-in-class products.
Qualifications You Must Have:
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, or related field)
10+ years of experience in engineering management or leadership roles
Proven track record of managing teams, mentor teams, with a focus on developing talent
Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering
Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and controls
Strong interpersonal skills to build working relationships across multiple business units
Proficient in strategic planning and execution with integrated product teams
Experience in developing strategic frameworks and tools to enhance team collaboration and drive product improvement.
Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
