TITLE: Finance Specialist - Payroll
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Three years of recent, progressively responsible experience in public school district payroll or benefits positions, or 5 years of other public school district finance positions. Organized, good time management, and attention to details. Self-motivated and customer service oriented. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for emails. Working knowledge of Visions payroll software required. QuickBooks helpful but not required. Good written and verbal communication skills.REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Business Services
JOB GOAL: Under minimal direct supervision, successful candidate prepares, processes, and reconciles payroll reporting for all employees of the District.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review positions and supplemental pay records in Visions against ePars Enter all federal & state withholding elections, direct deposit authorizations, and annuity deduction forms into Visions. Review all timesheets for completeness and accuracy before input into Visions Compute payrolls, balance gross pay, federal taxes, state taxes and ASRS calculations each payroll. Prepare payroll tax deposits, prepare ASRS and annuity deduction payments, prepare quarterly tax and retirement reports Reconcile 5 non-payroll bank accounts in QuickBooks Calculate sick and vacation payouts according to district policy Maintain a strict level of confidentiality at all times Assist district in preparation for annual audit, including compensated absence reporting. Twelve months, beginning salary Grade Seven on the Classified Hourly Salary Placement Schedule. Employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
