This position is responsible for managing inbound commodities paired with fleet optimization efforts across the Northeast and Southeast Divisions of CMC. This includes identifying and leveraging internal CMC opportunities as well as business development for third-party external for-hire customers (FFH). This position manages two direct reports and is responsible for all relationships with external, for-hire freight customers. Objectives revolve around maximizing utilization of CMC managed truck capacity while minimizing empty miles and net operating cost. This position plays a critical role in supporting Operational Excellence and CMC's fleet strategy and supports all lines of business within CMC by providing proper trucking resources, market knowledge and leading cost reduction efforts.

What You'll Do

Interacts with all CMC branches and dispatch teams for CMC-owned and dedicated assets to secure back hauls while maximizing fleet utilization and financial results to respective locations. Provides support to dispatch centers for improving utilization of owned or dedicated assets. Ability to meet and build relationships with internal/external customers and perform rate negotiations with said customers while keeping us in line with current market pricing. Capable of building a team environment with remote employee(s), fleet dispatchers, mill planners and an external/internal customer base. Further opportunities include upstream and downstream inbound/outbound supplies and materials, specialty trailer applications, and technological optimizations

What You'll Need

Three years’ work experience in truck transportation with knowledge and understanding of logistics operations. Understanding of truck carrier rates Strong negotiation skills Strong customer service and sales-based attitude. Solid analytical skills

Your Education

Bachelor's degree not required but preferable
