Job Summary
This is a full time, entry level position. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability and desire to learn and grow their skills and responsibilities over time. Our onboarding program provides training in how to perform all relevant job duties.

The Data Center Technician is responsible for deploying and maintaining servers and the supporting infrastructure in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities. A strong attention to detail and effective documentation skills are critical components to success in this position. The role will also entail providing customer support via an email / ticketing system to answer questions and troubleshoot problems. Previous technical support or call center experienced is preferred but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prioritize requests and deploy servers to meet deadlines.
  • Install and validate servers and supporting hardware.
  • Server assembly and disassembly.
  • Server maintenance and repair.
  • Racking and un-racking of servers and devices.
  • Perform hardware troubleshooting.
  • Server console reboot.
  • Install, test, and label cables and fiber using standard data center protocols and using cable management systems.
  • Review power requirements and rack layouts to ensure that equipment is installed properly.
  • Replace failed drives and devices.
  • Coordinate all repairs with customers and support team.
  • Takes routine inventory count and maintains stock of hardware.
  • Demonstrates excellent written communications skills including the ability to follow detailed written instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with building and / or repairing desktop computers and / or servers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Maintain high degree of self-motivation and independent decision-making.
  • Prior technical support and/or call center experience is preferred, not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Drivers License and reliable transportation.
  • Typing speed of 50wpm or faster.

Covid Considerations

  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccinations is required.
  • Job requires applicant to work indoors with a small group of coworkers.
  • No face to face interaction with customers; all communication with customers are done electronically.
