Sr. Manager, Thermal Engineering GPU

THE TEAM:

AMD's Data Center GPU organization is transforming the industry with our AI based Graphic Processors. Our primary objective is to design exceptional products that drive the evolution of computing experiences, serving as the cornerstone for enterprise Data Centers, (AI) Artificial Intelligence, HPC and Embedded systems. THE ROLE:

As a key contributor to the success of AMD's product portfolio, you will be part of a high-performance AMD team driving the delivery of high quality, industry-leading AI/GPU technology to the market. The team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to highlight successes and facilitate continuous career development.

THE PERSON:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Thermal Engineering Team Manager to lead our dynamic team of thermal engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thermal engineering, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing engineering projects from conception to completion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage a team of thermal engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of thermal systems and components.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to integrate thermal solutions into products.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Develop and implement thermal management strategies and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in thermal engineering and apply them to ongoing projects.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and project updates to senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Solid years of experience in thermal engineering in compute systems, and with several years leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of thermal analysis, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Proficiency in thermal simulation software and CAD tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong years of experience in thermal engineering in compute systems, with years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the compute/electronics industry.
  • Knowledge of specific software or tools: Icepak, Flotherm, Creo and Solidworks.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP).

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Thermal/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

LOCATION:

  • Austin, TX but flexible dependent of candidates' experience.
