GPU Architectural Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled GPU Physical Design Engineer to join our Silicon Technologies group at Apple. This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals who are passionate about designing and manufacturing high-performance, power-efficient GPUs.
Job DescriptionThis role requires a mix of strategic engineering and hands-on experience in physical design and large chip integration. As a GPU Physical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing complete chip design from RTL to tapeout. You will work closely with the Front-End (FE) team to understand chip architecture and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Driving outstanding PD construction and optimization recipes for performance, power, and Area (PPA).
- Working on pioneering designs in the latest technology nodes.
- Collaborating to drive methodologies and 'best known methods' to streamline PD work, come up with guidelines and checklists, drive execution, and supervise progress.
- Leading and resolving design and flow issues related to physical design, identifying potential solutions, and driving execution.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor's degree + 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in floorplanning, conducting route and placement flow experiments, and reviewing static timing and physical design verification flow results.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
We value your ability in all aspects of ASIC implementation, including Synthesis, DFT insertion, Floorplanning, Clock and Power distribution, Place and Route, and all aspects of timing, electrical, and physical signoff.
You should also have practical knowledge of hierarchical design approaches, top-down design, budgeting, timing, and physical convergence, as well as experience integrating IP from both internal and external vendors and specifying and driving IP requirements in the physical domain.
Achieving a deep understanding of large GPU designs (>20M gates) with frequencies in excess of 1GHz applying brand-new technologies is essential, as is familiarity with various process-related design issues, including Design for Yield and Manufacturability, multi-Vt strategies, and thermal management.
