Resettlement Services Coordinator

SALARY: $50,000/annual

The Resettlement Services Coordinator (RSC) is a member of the Case Management Team in Migration and Refugee Services (MRS). The RSC provides and oversees the delivery of case management and other required services to newly arriving refugees and other Immigrants, primarily during the Reception & Placement (R&P) period, the first 90 days from a refugee's date of arrival.
The RSC documents these services in accordance with the guidelines listed in the Cooperative Agreement. The RSC maintains regular and consistent contact with the refugee(s), assess and monitor refugees' needs and goals, advocate on behalf of refugees to guarantee that they receive benefits and quality care, and make referrals to both Catholic Charities programs and outside organizations to ensure that refugees' needs are met. The Resettlement Services Coordinator supervises the R&P caseworkers. 

Essential Duties and Tasks1.      Oversee daily operations of the assigned staff, providing guidance, leadership, and direct support in all aspects of service provision2.       Lead the recruitment, hiring, and training of new team members and ensure they are properly supervised.3.       Monitor the delivery and documentation of core resettlement services to ensure compliance with all program standards and grant requirements in accordance with the Reception and Placement Cooperative Agreement Services include, but are not limited to: Health screenings, applying for social security cards, SSI disability, public benefits, medical care, school enrollment, and all other required services.4.       Act as principal liaison with Migration and refugee services national refugee office (USCCB) Processing unit on issues of case allocation and assurance.5.       Ensure that all electronic and hard case files and databases are maintained in accordance with contract requirements and all records required by USCCB are submitted on time and in accordance with guidelines.6.       Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the requirements of the Cooperative Agreement, Match Grant Guidelines and the Policies and Procedures of the agency.7.       Secures interpreters for clients who have a limited understanding of the English language.8.      Ensure timely delivery of all R&P and APA case reports.9.        Provides a comprehensive orientation and intake to newly arriving refugees that assesses client needs and goals, communicates expectations of the resettlement process and establishes a strong, supportive relationship with the client.10.     All other duties assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associates degree preferred or studies leading toward a degree
  • At least three years of work experience preferably with refugees
  • Foreign language knowledge, especially language spoken by refugee populations, preferred. Reasonable accommodations may be made to those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to speak languages commonly spoken by current refugee populations preferred
  • Knowledge of different programs and Grants within Migration and Refugee Services
  • Must be able to represent Catholic Charities in a positive manner in dress and presentation when meeting community members and demonstrate good networking skills
  • Must have strong writing skills and the ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, rules, and regulations to ensure programmatic and fiscal compliance
  • Must have valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and reliable personal transportation
  • Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, and unexpected events
  • Able to manage competing demands and use time effectively
  • Able to provide clear instructions and delegate tasks and responsibilities to Caseworkers
  • Must have experience in refugee job development and placement.
  • Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with colleagues, clients, other community personnel, and service providers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends as needed
  • Must be proficient in PC skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Must demonstrate self-confidence, initiative, flexibility, good supervisory skills, and a high degree of professionalism
