Main Purpose of Job
This position functions as a full performance level team member providing high quality direct and indirect patient care (7-3, 3-11 & 11-7 shift) on a hospital unit. The essential functions encompass the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care services. Work is performed in a team relationship and in compliance with the statutes and regulations governing nursing and the standards of practice for a Licensed Practical Nurse. Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding Vaccination (MDH # issued by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals and residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees, contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious reasons.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the Maryland Board of Nursing under the Licensing requirements for Practical Nurses. Experience: One year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Note: Candidates may substitute Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Applicants for this classification must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization. 2. Applicants for this classification must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license must be attached to the application.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations , Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
