Contract: 3 year +

Location: either Department of Energy (DOE) HQ, Washington DC or DOE HQ, Germantown MD.

Security Clearance: active DOE "Q" Clearance

Overview:

The purpose of this position is to provide operational, analytical, and administrative business support services to NNSA. The client manages NNSA's top-level communications with DOE/NNSA, the White House, Congress, other governmental agencies, and the public. This role supports correspondence analysis, classified document control, mail intake and output, conference management, internal and interagency collaborations, development and processing of internal communications, writing and editing correspondence and other documentation, reports to Congress, records management, and internal and external correspondence to the public and to all levels of government, including Congress.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the primary NNSA HQ classified control center for Germantown and Forrestal.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the classified document control center.
  • Serve as an expert for document processing, packaging, accountability, and storing classified documents.
  • Review and analyze incoming classified documents to determine action required, and appropriate offices for response/review.
  • Maintain the Correspondence Control Center vault in a neat and organized manner.
  • Develop and maintain filing systems for classified documents/materials, in compliance with all regulations.
  • Log classified correspondence/documents addressed to NNSA program offices into the requisite NNSA data bases and enter into the tracking system.
  • Follow all requirements for barcoding and accountability for classified documents.
  • Prepare classified receipts and assure page counts on classified documents, and check for proper markings, classification authorities, proper document covers, required Safeguards and Security Information Management System (SSIMS) addresses, and pack and mail in accordance with Federal and DOE regulations.
  • Classified items are prepared, packaged, and provided for delivery according to all requirements and in a timely manner.
  • Use SSIMS to obtain authorized classified addresses when mailing classified documents.
  • Distribute classified documents to appropriate offices for action.
  • Follow all end of day procedures for securing classified materials in the correspondence center and the vault.
  • Keep management informed of workload and any other issues affecting work performance.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree or an additional 4 years of relevant experience
  • Active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance
  • Extensive experience handling, tracking, and managing classified correspondence is required.
  • DOE/NNSA experience is preferred.
