About the Job

The Senior Manager, Materials Management role within the Global Supply Chain Organization is
responsible for leading the Materials Management network across three US sites and support of the
Supply Chain function at Penzberg, Germany. The leader in this role coaches and develops site
materials management leaders and teams to ensure process harmonization and execution excellence.
The Senior Manager, Supply Chain is also responsible for directly building and leading the Materials
Management Team at the San Diego Lab Operations facility in La Jolla, CA. The San Diego facility is in
the start-up phase and the Senior Manager plays a key role in building the site materials flow and space
management processes. This role also serves as the Supply Chain representative on the San Diego Site
Leadership Team.


This role partners closely across the Supply Chain function to ensure adherence to regulated workflows
and accuracy of inventory transactions. This position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds and involves
regularly working within a laboratory environment in the presence of chemicals and reagents.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee shipping and receiving site teams and develop group competencies that produce
consistent validated intercompany shipping workflow.
• Implement materials strategy that closely aligns with financial demand planning with flexibility to
adjust to changes in demand.
• Catalyze team utilization of existing business tools like Maximo to improve inventory levels and
reduce risk of stockout.
• Build, improve, and harmonize Manage Logistics and Distribution business processes at site and
across the global network.
• Build and develop a team of Supply Chain Specialists according to the start-up timelines in the
Sand Diego facility.
• Communicate the inventory plan levels and global risks that emerge through analysis of Supply
Chain conditions in the industry to senior leadership at all sites.
• Assign daily inventory management workflows to a team of Supply Chain Specialists.
• Conduct regular meetings with laboratory stakeholders to calibrate their needs and to anticipate
changes in demands and process.
• Address back-order supply challenges by:
• Communication with Procurement;
• Identifying options that will alleviate the supply challenge; and,
• Escalating and communicating to the applicable lab stakeholder these options, plans, and
status of the supply issues.
• Provide metrics on consumption and trend analysis to lab stakeholders using inventory tracking
tools.
• Manage requests from customer groups for replenishment and packages in a timely manner
meeting GMP.
• Adhere to established Facilities Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in inventory, health, and
safety.
• Ensure team adherence to regulated records, GMP, CLIA and QSR requirements.
• Ensure communication responses to customer lab groups for materials requests.
• Conduct team meetings discussing materials metrics and other materials-related matters on a
monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Conduct weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial counts for the whole site and work with
the Finance Team on discrepancy investigations.
• Work closely with Accounts Payable to navigate Invoice discrepancies.
• Maintain adherence to environmental and health safety guidelines and policies.
• Respond to daily requests via ticketing request system in a timely manner and utilize system to
update status changes of inventory and non-GMP requests.
• Maintain a robust and accurate inventory within Maximo of regulated supplies and assist in
generation of reports on consumption.
• Create requisitions for inventory based on demand calculations and benchmarks.
• Conduct daily and weekly audits of received inventory Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure
Accounts Payable accuracy.
• Investigate PO receipt discrepancies and suggest improvements to prevent reoccurrence.
• Create Non-Conformance Reports and take steps for their resolutions, implementing changes
with team to eliminate reoccurrence.
• Incorporate new inventory materials into existing process workflows.
• Manage return to vendor process from Return Materials Authorization (RMA).
• Implement 5S across sites and maintain overall maintenance standards of the dock and
stockrooms.
• Manage sample waste stream adherence to established First-In-First Out (FIFO) disposal SOPs. 

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• 8+ years of experience in the regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or diagnostic industry
• 4+ years of experience in managing a diagnostic kit manufacturing operation


Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Science, or another equivalent discipline
• Experience in developing workflows and alignment of personnel, procedures to support global
scale, QSR Design Control, and cGMP
• Generating Data to support modeling and predicting challenges tied to Supply Chain through
application of technical knowledge
• Strong skillset in problem solving and developing proactive solutions
• Experience with business process management
• Excellent project management skills deployed across multiple, diverse projects simultaneously
• Experience with systems integrations both as a Subject Matter Expert and a Project Stakeholder
and Leader
• Detail oriented with excellent prioritization and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate exceptionally to create consensus across functions where
Supply Chain linkages support novel and innovative solutions to shared challenges
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to manage by influence and to work across organizational boundaries to
deliver results on schedule in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Experience working in a technical applications/support role
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills

• Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy.
