Overview of the Role

The Lead Manager of Materials Management within the Global Supply Chain division is tasked with overseeing the Materials Management framework across multiple locations in the United States, while also providing support to the Supply Chain operations in international settings. This leadership position is pivotal in mentoring and developing site-specific materials management teams to ensure streamlined processes and operational excellence.

The Lead Manager will be instrumental in establishing and directing the Materials Management Team at a new operational facility. This role is critical in shaping the materials flow and space management protocols during the start-up phase of the facility. Additionally, this position acts as the Supply Chain representative on the leadership team.

This role collaborates extensively across the Supply Chain to guarantee compliance with regulated workflows and maintain the integrity of inventory transactions. The position necessitates the capability to lift 25 pounds and involves regular engagement in a laboratory environment where chemicals and reagents are present.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise shipping and receiving teams, enhancing group competencies to ensure a consistent and validated intercompany shipping process.
  • Develop and implement a materials strategy that aligns closely with financial demand planning, allowing for flexibility in response to demand fluctuations.
  • Encourage team utilization of existing business tools to optimize inventory levels and mitigate stockout risks.
  • Enhance and standardize logistics and distribution processes at the site and throughout the global network.
  • Build and nurture a team of Supply Chain Specialists in alignment with operational timelines.
  • Communicate inventory plans and global risks to senior leadership based on thorough analysis of Supply Chain conditions.
  • Assign daily inventory management tasks to the Supply Chain Specialists.
  • Conduct regular meetings with laboratory stakeholders to assess their needs and anticipate changes in demand and processes.
  • Address supply challenges by coordinating with procurement and identifying solutions, while effectively communicating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide metrics on consumption and trends to laboratory stakeholders utilizing inventory tracking tools.
  • Manage customer requests for replenishment and packaging in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with good manufacturing practices.
  • Adhere to established standard operating procedures regarding inventory, health, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with regulated records and requirements.
  • Facilitate communication with customer lab groups regarding materials requests.
  • Conduct team meetings to discuss materials metrics and related issues on a regular basis.
  • Perform financial counts and collaborate with the finance team on discrepancies.
  • Work closely with accounts payable to resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental and health safety guidelines.
  • Respond to daily requests through a ticketing system, updating inventory statuses as needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist in generating consumption reports.
  • Create requisitions based on demand forecasts.
  • Conduct audits of received inventory to ensure accuracy.
  • Investigate discrepancies and propose improvements.
  • Manage the return process for vendor materials.
  • Implement and maintain 5S standards across sites.
  • Ensure adherence to disposal procedures for waste streams.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in the regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or diagnostic sectors.
  • 4+ years of experience managing operations in diagnostic kit manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing workflows and aligning personnel to support global operations.
  • Ability to generate data for modeling and predicting Supply Chain challenges.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive solution development.
  • Experience in business process management.
  • Excellent project management skills across diverse projects.
  • Familiarity with systems integration as a subject matter expert.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across functions.
  • Experience in a technical applications/support role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Commitment to the values of passion, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Understanding of patient data privacy regulations.
