Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, develop, and present automation project ideas.

  • Estimate costs for designing and building custom automation solutions.

  • Analyze parts, drawings, machine designs, and other documentation to ensure accurate project start.

  • Manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and estimating schedules.

  • Identify and document special considerations during project initiation.

  • Maintain organized, accurate records for all estimated projects.

  • Coordinate and prioritize multiple projects across trades, adapting to frequent changes.

  • Generate formal quotes, drawings, and presentations for customer.

  • Participate in job releases or engineering changes with the release team.

  • Fully understand customer needs and tooling requirements.

  • Consistently maintain professionalism and represent the company in a presentable manner.

  • Have a thorough understanding of the company’s tooling and manufacturing processes.

  • Engage in periodic design reviews and job close-out/lessons learned sessions.

  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) with 2-5+ years of estimating experience, or Associate’s degree  (Engineering-related) with 5+ years of estimating experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar 3D software.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret machine designs, part drawings, and project specifications.

  • Familiarity with automation, machine tooling, and standard industry practices.

  • Technical and business acumen, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.

  • Comfortable interacting with customers and external vendors.

  • Skilled in technical writing and oral communication, with the ability to present to various audiences.

  • Self-motivated with the willingness to work overtime as needed.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to work with minimal direction.

  • Ability to lead kick-off meetings and compare quoted pricing to actual project outcomes.

  • Commitment to delivering quotes on time and reviewing budget variances post-project.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Willingness to travel 5-10%, both nationally and internationally.
