About the Program:

The Forest Data Partnership (FDaP) aims to halt and reverse forest loss from commodity production by collaboratively improving global monitoring and supply chain tracking and accelerating restoration. It aligns partners around the data and ensures access for stakeholders across sectors to consistent, validated open-source geospatial forest-risk commodity data. The result is credible, systematic monitoring, verification and accountability towards progress in reducing commodity-driven deforestation and restoring degraded lands. The Forest Data Partnership is a collaboration between: WRI, UN FAO, NASA SERVIR, Google, Unilever, USAID, and the US State Department.

This position is hybrid and will require a few days per week in our Washington DC office.

What you will do:

In this role you will support a variety of strategy and evaluation functions within the Forest Data Partnership. You will contribute to tracking and documenting project indicators, facilitate the FDaP learning agenda, and have the opportunity to learn about and support impact evaluation. You will be supported by a team both at the project level (colleagues and partners within the Forest Data Partnership) as well as within WRI's Forest MEL team. You will report to Katherine Shea, Senior Manager of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning -- Food, Land, and Water.

Internship Learning Outcomes:

You will:

Implement, refine, and maintain consistent data collection methods for FDaP indicators. Adapt/refine tools for collecting and sharing information necessary to monitor project activities and narrative: such as surveys and interviews. Compile and manage program data and document progress toward outcomes for internal and external communication/reports – generally on a bi-annual basis. Develop regular (generally monthly) Update Memos for Forest Data Partnership to keep lines of communication open and build awareness with FDaP Partners. Attend meetings for FDaP’s Align/Innovate workstreams – helpful in building Memo – to keep workstreams aligned and gather information for Assess.

What you will need:

Post-graduate in environmental science, forestry, program evaluation, environmental planning, sustainable development, international development, or a related field. At least two years of experience in forest monitoring, evaluation or international development. Strong communication skills, ability to liaise with government and other stakeholders - to collect data, communicate findings, and seek feedback iteratively. Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team. Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Compensation

The pay for this internship opportunity is$20/hourfor undergrads; $22/hour for graduates and $24/hour for PhD students.

Length of Contract:

This is a full time, 6-monthinternship with a flexible start and end date.

Location:

•This is a hybrid internship that will be based out of our Washington . office. You will be required to work in the Washington DC office at least 8 days per month.

•WRI will provide a laptop for the duration of your internship.
