University of Phoenix College of Social and Behavioral Science degrees offer undergraduate and graduate programs in psychology, human services and counseling designed to help students acquire a deeper understanding of human behavior and prepare them to become social heroes in their communities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, social science careers are expected to grow up to 29 percent between 2012 and 2022. The College of Social and Behavioral Science prepares for these opportunities with a combination of firsthand knowledge and career-relevant coursework. Our curriculum is developed based on industry standards to ensure the coursework aligns with employer needs.
We work directly with the American Counseling Association (ACA), National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) to ensure that our programs fill skills gaps in social science professions.
As a faculty member you’ll be challenged with adding your professional expertise to instruct a curriculum which is centrally developed with specific learning objectives. Provide timely and detailed feedback on a weekly basis and offer student support via classroom, phone, and email. Utilize classroom learning system technology (provided by university), the Internet, and Microsoft Office software.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Doctorate Degree in Counselor Education and Supervision OR Three (3) years of applicable professional experience, some of which must have been within the last 7 years Master's Degree in Counseling with Doctorate Degree in Counselor Education and Supervision in process Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years' post licensure experience Candidates must have a demonstration of professional identity through additional professional organization service, published research, professional presentations, and/or other scholarly activities within the last 7 years Five (5) years of applicable professional experience, some of which must have been within the last 7 yearsADDITIONAL/PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution. Required a current license as a Professional Counselor (LPC), Psychologist, or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Acceptable professional experience can include but are not limited to: post-secondary teaching in counseling, practitioner counseling experience in a clinical setting, and/or documented research or scholarship experience in counseling within the last 5 years.. SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENT: All faculty members must have one record of scholarship within the last five years that meets UOPX’s definition of scholarship engagement. Faculty who do not currently meet this requirement may still be qualified however; they have one year from the date the content area is approved to come into compliance with this Graduate Faculty Scholarship requirement to maintain the content area approval.
