Position Summary

Maricopa Community College District is looking for a dedicated individual to fill the role of Pediatric Nursing Faculty Member. This position will report to the Department/Division Chair and is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing education, including theory, skills lab, clinical, and simulation-based instruction to a diverse student body.

The successful candidate will engage in effective communication and collaboration with students, faculty, administrators, and various campus departments, all focused on enhancing student success. The role requires in-depth theoretical and clinical knowledge of pediatric nursing, as well as the ability to provide simulation instruction to nursing students from varied backgrounds.

The primary teaching focus will be on pediatric nursing content within the Maricopa Nursing RN program, with potential opportunities to teach in other nursing programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and evaluate student learning experiences in both in-person and hybrid formats.
  • Exemplify the professional qualities of a registered nurse, including customer service, collaboration, and holistic care.
  • Commit to student learning by aligning educational activities with curriculum standards and adult learning principles.
Essential Duties

Facilitate and supervise student learning in simulation, clinical, and classroom environments.
Develop comprehensive course materials, evaluate student performance, and maintain current knowledge in nursing practices through ongoing professional development.
Maintain office hours and actively participate in departmental and college-wide committees.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree with a minimum of 3 years of direct patient care experience, or a BSN with a graduate degree and 2 years of experience, or a graduate degree in nursing with 2 years of direct patient care experience.
2. An active Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona.
3. Compliance with health and safety requirements, including CPR certification and background checks.
4. Completion of EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent within two years of hire.

Desired Qualifications

A. A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.
B. Experience as a registered nurse in pediatrics for three or more years.
C. Classroom teaching experience with diverse student populations in nursing programs.
D. Clinical/lab teaching experience with diverse student populations in nursing programs.
E. Experience utilizing simulation technology in nursing education.

Working Conditions

* May require travel to various MCCCD locations.
* Evening and weekend availability may be necessary.
* Instruction may occur at multiple sites.
* Prolonged periods of computer use may be required.
* Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
* Valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
* Potential exposure to infectious diseases.
