General Summary:

The Director, Architecture & Strategy for CRM will define the strategy and lead the delivery of the Veeva CRM product suite to all field end users globally. In this role you will identify capabilities and solutions within the Veeva product suite, and solutions from the salesforce eco-system that can address current business needs.  You will also create a roadmap of future CRM capabilities that will power Vertex’s expansion into new disease areas and new geographies.  You will serve as the “platform visionary”, representing all aspects of the product technology. You will define requirements and deliver industry-leading solutions, ensure solution quality, and navigate milestones and challenges to drive successful projects.  You will be a people leader and own the relationship with our partners who deliver the solution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defining, executing, and adapting the vision and strategy for CRM at Vertex globally 

  • Work with vendors and internal partners on product roadmaps and strategic planning for the Veeva product suites 

  • Serve as Technical SME for enhancements, software upgrades, implementations, and integration projects providing product expertise and quality assurance, including leading technical design sessions, conducting code reviews and testing as required 

  • In partnership with business and functional teams to understand the business processes, document, and manage business and technical requirements, then architect solutions in Veeva CRM to meet these requirements 

  • Build relationships within Data, Technology & Engineering, Commercial, Market Access and Medical business partners 

  • Facilitate system related architectural reviews as needed 

  • Agile - Experience working within and leading in an AGILE team framework 

  • Leads the identification and analysis of business drivers to develop architecture requirements for a complex portfolio of programs/projects 

  • Analyzes technology, market and industry trends to determine impact upon the enterprise or function. 

  • Develops future state blueprints that meet strategic business objectives and ensure the appropriate level of quality. Develops architecture roadmaps to meet these objectives. 

  • Ensures that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other and business and IT strategies; recommends/develops original or unprecedented solutions to align potentially competing needs 

  • Develop, maintain or contribute to tools and data that enable architecture delivery (e.g. capability models, application-capability mapping, etc.), leveraging specialized expertise 

  • Ensures compliance with architecture policies, principles, standards and guidelines. 

  • As a people manager within the organization, has financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Requires 10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Veeva implementation, program management, business analysis, and full life-cycle Cloud implementation
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Veeva CRM or Salesforce Life Sciences delivery either through work at industry participants or consulting to the industry
  • Deep expertise and experience in implementing various CRM functional areas: Territory Alignment, CLM, KOL Management, Events Management, Sample Management, Order Management, Multi-Channel Content, Target List/Cycle Plan, ToT Management, Suggestions
  • Strong track record for developing new talent, commitment to diversity, and understanding the value of the team
  • Experience leading and directing the work of teams. This includes performance management, hiring, and development.
  • Specialized experience in all primary architecture models and valuation techniques
  • Deep experience in all four architecture specialization areas (business, information, infrastructure, software).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, software engineering or other related technology degree.

  • Typically requires 10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience leading and directing the work of teams. This includes performance management, hiring, development and termination.

1.    Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2.    On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
