SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineer will perform a wide variety of highly technical analysis of manufacturing methods, processes, workflow, time standard application, product quality and associated subjects. This includes applying engineering techniques and assisting in the improvement of manufacturing processes and products. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Act as an advocate between Design Engineering and Operations. Formulate plans and programs addressing utilization of facilities, equipment and personnel. Prepare justification reports for major machine tools. Plan long range expansion of machine tools. Ensure ongoing success of process improvement initiatives by implementing policies, procedures, and process documentation. Implement demand driven principles and strategies that support operational excellence and long-range plans. Estimate production times and related costs to provide information for costing of new products and special projects. Design, debug, and implement programming system routines to produce NC programs and routings. Use continuous improvement tools to implement process improvements that will reduce cycle time, process variation, defects, changeover time, and lead times. Participate in area layouts, process definition, and fixture implementation. Act as an Infor XA Super User within functional area as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or a related field. Previous manufacturing engineering experience is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks). Knowledge of lean principles and process improvements. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not directly supervise other team members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards Travel by air or car occasionally
