Primary Purpose The Lab Specialist is responsible for supervision of laboratories, and autonomy over laboratory resources and equipment. Under limited supervision and direction, the Lab Specialist works with faculty to manage the lab and the simulation learning experience, and performs duties related to student support. The essential functions listed below are intended to identify those generally assigned, the position may perform many but not all, in addition, other responsibilities may be assigned that are unit specific and based on needs. Essential Functions Collaborates with Faculty members to supervise day-to-day operations of laboratories and graduate teaching assistants. Assist with rescheduling of laboratories or lab practical’s when needed, and at times, serves as a liaison between students, teaching assistants, and/or faculty for explanation, clarification, or problem resolution. Manage the simulation and clinical skills labs for the Nursing department. Ensure planning, implementation, and evaluation phases of skills and simulation are prepared and organized. Managing lab and simulation operations and procedures to ensure program effectiveness and efficiency. Manages Lab budgeting and procurement and request equipment quotes. Manages inventory of all supplies, equipment, and laboratory manuals. Schedules and attends simulation trainings and provides additional support for IPE events. Oversee and monitor maintenance and stocking of the Simulation and Skills Lab equipment and ensure the cleanliness and efficiency of the Simulation and Skills Lab and storage space. Maintain and ensure functionality of simulation equipment and mannequins. Schedule’s lab maintenance or work orders for labs or mannequins. Coordinates IT and SHS tech tickets for lab and SIM days. Assist the Faculty in maintaining an organized calendar for simulation and skills lab. Coordinate Mask Fit Tests and monthly AED machine test. Maintaining lab, IPE, and simulation records. Create signage and schedules for checkoffs, high-fidelity lab days, and stations. Coordinate lab laundry and sharps retrieval. Coordinate and oversee student open lab days. Program Event Assistance as needed. Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the Department.

Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Learning Management Systems like Canvas. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work. Duties require constant sitting and repetitive motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Frequent walking, standing and simple grasping. Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during standard business hours. Hiring Range $19.58 - $25.94 per hour.
