The Production Engineer  is the area engineer for the shipping department at Ingevity's North Charleston, SC Performance Chemicals plant. In this role you will provide technical, engineering, and troubleshooting support for day-to-day processing. As an area owner and positive change agent you will drive process improvements and partner cross-functionally and with operators and trainers on continuous improvement initiatives.

How you will impact Ingevity:

Assist with troubleshooting production problems related to equipment, processes, quality, and systems. Works closely with operators; provides guidance and develops their knowledge. Assist with development and design of equipment and processes to support customer needs, safety/environmental compliance, and efficient manufacturing. Make recommendations for process improvements and capital expenditures in support of the area's productivity, safety, environmental, maintenance, quality, and cost reduction objectives. Assists with the development of and facilitates training for operations group in implementation of operating procedures, safety/environmental protocol, and new/revised processes and equipment. Research and develop new and improved manufacturing processes and equipment in support of the facilities productivity improvement strategies. Attend plant reviews, sales, and operations meetings as needed and make presentations. Participates as requested on plant committees in support of safety, environmental, organizational, quality, and manufacturing objectives.

What you need to succeed:

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering required. Chemical Engineering degree preferred. Minimum 3 years' production and/or process/project related experience required. Good interpersonal relationship skills, problem solving/troubleshooting skills, and written/verbal communication skills. Work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and our customers' organizations. 0-10% travel required.
