Position Information

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) has an exciting career opportunity for a Grant and Contract Administrator to provide administration and financial compliance for complex portfolio grants and contracts for our Financial Services operations. This is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. The Grant and Contract Administrator will report to the Vice President of Administrative Affairs.

A part of the University System of Maryland (USM), the University of Maryland Eastern Shore is a state assisted institution with an enrollment of + students. The institution is located in Princess Anne, on the eastern shore of Maryland. Responsibilities Manages day-to-day post-award administration and financial compliance for a complex portfolio of grants and contracts from award setup to closeoutWorks collaboratively with principal investigators (PIs) to monitor award expenditures ensuring allocability and allowability with sponsor and university policies and preventing overspending.Understands, applies, and advises on university and sponsor policies while supporting award modification (no-cost extensions, change in personnel, scope revision, budget reallocation requests).Prepares and processes invoices ensuring that financial accounting procedures are followed.Responsible for preparation, review, and submission of financial reports to sponsors, through various mechanisms including sponsor web-based portals such as Fastlane, ERA commons, Grant Solutions, etcAssists with internal reports with direction from supervisor.Manages and reviews budget setup, subrecipient and subcontract agreement processing, encumbers funds and participates in subrecipient financial monitoring.Meets with faculty to discuss their awards, liaises with key offices including financial services, Business Travel, Accounts Payable, Procurement, etcParticipates in training to increase research administration knowledge.Performs other related duties as assigned. Classification 13- Business and Financial Operations Occupations Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with two years of related experience.Previous experience in an academic setting.Working knowledge of federal regulations governing the administration of grants and contracts (Uniform Guidance, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and agency specific regulations)Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office.Must be goal orientated, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in coordination with various teamsDemonstrates willingness to take on new challenges and openness to change. Preferred Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to work in a team environment to deliver high quality customer service .Ability to demonstrate effective time-management, problem resolution and organizational skills.
