AECOM is seeking a self-starter and experienced business development leader to drive growth for our Utah Transportation business. This external facing leader will represent AECOM in the marketplace and oversee business development, sales, projects, and strategy for AECOM’s Surface Transportation business.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

The candidate will need to be a growth minded leader who can work collaboratively with others and mentor staff in a fast pace setting to support business development, marketing and communications, capture management, project delivery and strategy.  The ideal person must be able to verbally and visually communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly to peers and senior leadership.

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Help build a strong and thriving culture in Utah Transportation that promotes equity, diversity, & inclusion, sustainability, and innovation; while preserving technical excellency in our core competency.
  • Provide leadership in recruiting and retaining top talent to Utah.
  • In collaboration with senior leadership, develop and own the long-term vision for sustained growth of AECOM’s transportation business in Utah.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team in the US Greater West Transportation on driving strategic growth initiatives throughout the region.
  • Work with the US Greater West Transportation growth team in developing an annual strategic plan to set targets and goals for the fiscal year, and own the Wins and Bookings KPIs.
  • Oversee the capture process for key pursuits in Utah to ensure best practices are being adhered to, and continuously improve capture results.
  • Lead the client account management program for key clients in Utah to ensure active management by Client Account Managers and Project Managers.
  • Support project delivery and execution, including the management of strategic projects and support for other key projects throughout the region.
  • Collaborate with local divisional leadership across all markets and organize civic engagement activities.
  • Work with local division leadership to grow pipeline.
  • Manage Utah conference and meeting sponsorships and collaborate with local division leadership across all markets for attendance.
  • Be responsible for holding regular Utah business development meetings with all relevant stakeholders and ensuring frequent and regular communication.
  • Ability to manage large projects if needed or desired.
  • Ability to serve as the Principal in Charge for high value projects and clients

 


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 12 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership
  • PE License
  • Experience in business development, and strong existing relationships with UDOT (Utah Department of Transportation)
  • Existing relationships within the transportation community in Utah, and active involvement in local professional organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience and relationships with UDOT and broader Utah transportation market; i.e. UTA, City of Salt Lake City, surrounding municipalities, etc.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in capture process for professional services
