Position Summary

The Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships is offering a detail opportunity to serve as the Acting Section Head, Small Business (SB) Section, Division of Translational Impacts (TI) in the Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP). This detail is open to all qualified NSF employees and IPAs currently working at NSF for an initial period of up to days, with the possibility to extend for up to one year, in -day increments. For purposes of pay and benefits, the selectee will continue to encumber the position from which detailed. The individual selected will be required to file an “Executive Branch Personnel Public Financial Disclosure Report” (SF-) in accordance with the Ethics in Government Act of at the beginning and completion of the detail assignment . The expected start date for this detail will be on or about January 5, . This is not a remote position .

Position Description

The Acting Section Head for SB will serve as a member of the division leadership team as well as the leadership team for the TIP Directorate. The incumbent will provide leadership and direction for the SB Section, having managerial and oversight responsibilities for the effective use of Section staff and resources in meeting organizational goals and objectives. This includes directing the activities of the Section; participating in policy development and strategic planning for the division, in building broad organizational consensus, and in successfully representing these policies and plans. In the absence of the Division Director, the incumbent may serve as advisor to the Assistant Director and Deputy Assistant Director on matters relating to the broad and complete areas of technology translation.

Professional and Technical Qualifications: Education strongly preferred at the Ph.D. or M.S. level or a combination of education and equivalent experience in science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics, or other closely related field or subdiscipline. Professional experience may include research, professional practice, teaching and/or management experience in the context of these fields/disciplines.
