Animal Emergency & Specialty Center is the 24-hour partner to your neighborhood veterinarian, here to manage illnesses and injuries when your neighborhood veterinarian is closed and equipped with the tools and knowledge for advanced diagnostics, evaluation, and treatment that’s beyond the scope of most veterinary practices. 

We are currently seeking an ICU Technician/Assistant to add to our team This is a full-time position ***Friday- Sunday 7am - 7pm*** Department Veterinary Technicians Employment Type Full Time Location Chattanooga, Tennessee Workplace type Onsite Compensation $18.00 - $24.00 / hour

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Caring for our Boarding animals Cleaning, laundry and basic clinic up keep Patient handling and restraint Medication administration & filling prescriptions Assisting our Technicians and our Veterinarian as needed Tackling projects as assigned (with a smile, as always) Provide exemplary patient care to the Intensive Care Unit, including giving medications, monitoring patient changes, and administering treatments. Uphold the AESC values of: patient care, client communication, teamwork, and rDVM relationships. Work independently and as a team to provide high level care to critical patients. Maintain communication with attending DVM regarding patient status and disease progression. Be reasonably familiar with common disease pathologies and progressions. Perform diagnostic testing as required by the veterinarian such as running chemistries, CBCs, urinalysis, and fecal floats. Sample collection and handling including venipuncture, cystocentesis, and other bodily fluid collection. Medication administration including IV, IM, and SQ routes  Time management skills to appropriately balance learning opportunities 

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

High school diploma or GED required Preferred have at least 1 year of veterinary medicine experience  Must be a bright, friendly, and effective communicator in order to communicate with clients, visitors, veterinarians, and other hospital staff. (It’s okay if you talk to animals, too) Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods of time  Must be able to lift 50 squirming pounds Must be able to work in a veterinary environment with exposure to infection or contagious diseases Basic computer skills  Attention to detail  Desire to learn  Critical Thinking skills  3+ years experience in an animal hospital as a veterinary technician, preferably in am emergency setting.
