POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Bellman/Valet Attendant is responsible for providing a positive first and last impression to guests as they arrive and leave the hotel. In this key role, you will offer information about check-in, opens and closes car doors and hotel entrance doors will be responsible for parking and retrieving guest vehicles in a prompt yet safe manner and assisting guests with luggage, including delivery and pick up of guest luggage during arrival and departure.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Greet all guests upon arrival Open doors and assist guests/visitors entering and leaving propertyAssist arriving and departing guests with luggage to & from rooms promptlyAssist guests in and out of transportationMaintain security of vehicles and vehicle keysPromote all hotel functions and facilitiesMonitor and direct personal and commercial vehicle traffic on property, including guest vehicles, taxi cabs, limousines, and buses, to ensure vehicles are legally parked and to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of trafficAssist departing guests to their transportationCommunicate parking procedures to guests/visitorsMaintain the cleanliness of the Valet AreaAssist guest with general information Monitor and maintain safety, security, and cleanliness of parking areas/levels, and report any vehicles/safety hazards, unauthorized personnel, or potential security problems to the manager/supervisorIdentify and explain room features to guests (e.g., use of room key, mini-bar, ice and vending areas, in-room safe, valet laundry services)Supply guests with directions and information regarding property amenities, services, and hours of operation, and local areas of interest and activitiesMaintain knowledge of the community and area to assist guests with general information and local special eventsFollow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary informationTransport guest luggage to and from guest rooms and/or designated bell areaFollow all company safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to managerAssist individuals with disabilitiesThank guests with genuine appreciationSpeak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquetteDevelop and maintain positive working relationships with othersComply with quality assurance expectations and standardsStand, sit, or walk for an extended period of timeMove, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistancePolish and clean bell carts dailyCheck and secure guests’ luggageOther duties as assignedPerform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Must provide the highest customer service to all guests. Ability to interact with guests using the Hospitality Standards set out by your General Manager.

Prerequisites

Standing at least 8 hours a dayRunning up to 200 yards, 50 times a day or moreEntering and exiting customers vehicles 75 or more times dailyLifting wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, baggage, gifts, etc. (in and out of customers vehicles)Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.Be able to work in hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods of time.Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, visual acuity, and may on occasion have to lift and carry up to 50 pound.Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.A valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle. This license must have been held for at least one year prior to applying.A driving record will be required at the time of application, and it must be approved for the applicant to be considered for a position. Driver’s license must be kept in good standing for the duration of employment.
