Engineer Microanalysis Instrumentation

We have production sites in Madison,WI and Gennevilliers Cedex, France. 

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing in Madison,WI, the Microanalysis Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the test and optimization of microanalysis instruments to achive the performance level defined in the scope of work with autonomy, proactivity, and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform Standard Tests to qualify the instrument. React accordingly when facing challenges. Proposes and implements solutions to complete the tests. Ensure equipment monitoring during equipment provisioning. Documents and records information related to instrument progress, calibration documents, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), shipping, etc. Demonstrate contractual specifications validating FAT instrument delivery when involving standard specifications (remotely if necessary). Conduct Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for customer acceptance when involving standard specifications. Provide customer(s) training on instrument operation as well as maintenance operations. Needs to show good teaching skills. Propose improvements (Engineering Changes, lean practices, etc.) and suggest relevant actions for activities. Contributes to the development of technical documents corresponding to activities, including SOP’s, work instructions, etc. Contributes to the creation of technical training at Cameca. Develops assembly and QA procedures, pulling from internal resources as needed to ensure quality documentation with optimal coverage. Design and develop fixturing as needed to optimize initial bench testing of electronics, optical and UHV assemblies. Assist as needed in the manufacturing process including assembly of optics, trouble shooting and repair of electronics modules, and hands on QA testing of service repair parts and new instruments. Mentor new employees in their activities following a defined framework or training program. Follows quality and EHS procedures. Some travel is required (both domestic and international.

Education & Experience: 

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (electronics, physics, analytical techniques, micromechanics). Beginner or first experience in a similar position (scientific or medical instrumentation, semiconductor equipment manufacturer or large instrument, special machines, etc.)

Professional Knowledge & Abilities:

Fluent English is required. Strong communication and pedagogical skills. Able to learn quickly to ensure the successful completion of an internal training program spanning several months on our specific techniques. Methodical, rigorous, and autonomous. Works well in a team environment. Service-oriented mindset, excellent customer relations experience. Experience with ECR processing and BOM management. Strong mechanical and electronics assembly skills. Strong interpersonal skills. High energy, self-starter and finisher. Ability to thrive under pressure and respond to changing priorities
