The Associate Legal Officer, plays a crucial role in two key areas: serving as in-house legal and regulatory counsel on matters of research integrity and assisting in the strategic vision for the research integrity program.

Here's a breakdown of responsibilities:

  1. Providing Legal and Regulatory Counsel:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on research integrity issues, including federal and state laws and regulations.

  • Offer legal guidance on handling research misconduct allegations in compliance with relevant laws.
  •  
  • Provide advice and counsel on research integrity matters to stakeholders, such as research misconduct committees and the Research Integrity Officer.
  •  
  • Prepare reports for research misconduct assessments, inquiries, and investigations.
  •  
  • Support research misconduct proceedings and assist in determining corrective actions for integrity and legal violations.
  •  
  • Handle reporting and communications related to research integrity and misconduct matters.
  •  
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws impacting research and compliance obligations.
  •  
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting compliance and serve as a resource to senior leadership.

  2. Assisting with Research Integrity Program Activities

  • Aid in matters related to the research integrity program and conduct or support training initiatives.
  •  
  • Contribute to the development and oversight of policies critical to the effectiveness of the research integrity program.
  •  
  • Attend and support various research misconduct committees.
  •  
  • Assist in corrective action and disclosures to regulatory agencies.
  •  
  • Participate in institutional risk analysis and monitoring programs related to research integrity.
  •  
  • Help develop and manage compliance awareness programs, communications, education, and program website.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Represent compliance on institutional committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

‍Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Two years of legal experience in a law firm or healthcare organization.
