Job Summary:

The IT Security Engineer fills a highly technical and specific role supporting the company’s security strategy. This role safeguards information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security issues through the ownership of day to day security tasks and contributions to information security related projects. Additionally, this role interfaces with our user community and assists with maintaining compliance with industry, federal, and company policies and mandates as they pertain to information technology.

Essential Duties:

  • Daily monitoring, triage, remediation, and/or escalation of enterprise security issues including those associated with antivirus, spam and intrusion detection.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with PCI, SOX, and other security compliance requirements.
  • Provide operational support for enterprise network security platforms, including firewalls, ACLs, and web content filtering.
  • Perform regular vulnerability scans and analyze results. Remediate and/or escalate any issues discovered.
  • Implement security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Test and/or implement software and hardware that support the company’s security strategy.
  • Perform tasks supporting remote access (VPN) and encryption systems
  • Collaborate with IT teams and employees from other lines of business to maintain a security posture consistent with the company’s security strategy.
  • Monitor operation of patch management systems
  • Maintain current knowledge base of threats, patches, trends and risks within the Information Security discipline

 

Other Duties

  • Troubleshoot security issues and produce documentation
  • Work on security related projects

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with data security principles
  • Experience with various authentication protocols
  • Experience with firewalls, AD, VPN devices and access, log gathering and analysis
  • Experience with endpoint security products
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and the OSI model
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people at various levels throughout the organization

 

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in technology, or equivalent related field experience
  • 3+ years in the field of Information Technology
  • 1+ years in the specific discipline of IT security
