Coachella Library is currenlty seeking a Library Associate 2 position with a passion for library science. Under direction from management, the Library Associate 2 performance a variety of of moderately complex, technical duties and paraprofessional duties. This individual should have great customer service and work well with others. Bilingual preferred.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
Provides customer service by welcoming and registering patrons, issuing library cards, checking out materials and managing patron accountsAssists patrons with locating materials or the reference desk, using computers, or explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.)·Checks in and processes library materials as necessary Accepts and processes fines, fees, or other payments Provides information regarding programs, events, conference rooms, etc. Mails library materials as necessary for patron homebound programs Shelves library materials Addresses or escalates patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate management Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records. Other duties as assignedRequirements
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.
Diploma or GEDTwo years library experience preferredBasic knowledge of library systems and databases preferredAbility to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings and weekendsExcellent customer service skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteGood communication skills, both written and verbalEnglish/Spanish speaking is a plusPhysical Requirements:
Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. of heavy boxes, books, and equipment; work in confined spaces; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.
