Responsibilities:

The New School is looking for students to join our team as Admission Events Assistants. Our events are designed to help prospective and admitted students and their families learn more about The New School’s academic programs, social life, and application requirements. 

Admission Events Assistants serve as a first point of contact for campus visitors, staffing the small-, mid-, and large-scale events that comprise our recruitment yield season. Our student team assists in event planning and implementation, including setup and breakdown, check-in, and guest management. They also assist in the creation of video and/or photo production and social media campaigns in support of admission events. Assistants are also contributors to the Welcome Center Instagram account, online admitted student communities, student panels, and the development of flyers, posts, and social media stories. 

Although often behind-the-scenes, Admission Events Student Assistants are responsible for acting as representatives of the university, warmly welcoming all campus visitors and establishing a quality first impression online and in-person. Our team must display pride and passion for The New School, maintain up-to-date information about our academic programs, student services and consistently represent ourselves and the university in a genuine, professional, and inclusive manner.

Hourly Rate: $17 Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree program at The New School. Additional qualifications Prior retail or event experience Impeccable attention to detail and aesthetics Sound judgment Positive attitude Excellent communicator Highly organized—enjoys organization Self-motivated Enjoys assisting others and providing support Able to focus without being distracted by cell phones, personal social media, etcFamiliarity with Instagram Experience in graphic and/or video/production design Familiarity with Canvas, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with Video and Photo Editing Software
