ALA seeks a Membership and Marketing Specialist to support two divisions:

The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) 

Responsibilities Include:

The Membership and Marketing Specialist will primarily work within both divisions to enhance member growth and engagement through marketing and communication initiatives. This includes but is not limited to:

Promoting division member recruitment and engagement through strategic outreach and communication. Producing marketing and communications content for ALSC & YALSA, including press releases, marketing flyers and brochures, email communications and other promotional materials. Managing the divisions’ social media presence. Providing staff leadership to select member committees and cohorts.

This is a regular full-time position based in our Chicago office.

ALA staff are currently working on a hybrid schedule. Please note that although we have a generous telecommuting policy for our employees, we do not have any truly remote positions in states outside of our workplace sites.

ALA currently requires that employees be fully vaccinated as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Proof of vaccination will be required on or before start date. 

All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check and proof of your eligibility to work in the United States.

Starting salary  range negotiable from low-50s, based on relevant experience. ALA has an excellent benefit package that includes flexible work schedules, medical, dental, generous paid vacation, a retirement annuity, and a 35-hour work week. You may also qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field; graduate degree preferred. 3-5 years working in a nonprofit, association, library, or related professional setting that can provide insight into members’ needs. Proficient with social media platforms and applications. Intermediate to advance proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign and Illustrator. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Drupal are a plus.
