The Product Manager, Twin Roll Presses at Valmet will primarily be responsible for serving as a product technical sales expert and a main point of contact for both internal and external customers. This position will play a critical role in the success of the overall group, so a business minded approach is required.

Under the direction of Eric Camargo, Senior Product Manager, Twin Roll Presses, you will aid in coordinating the development and preparation of proposals and be responsible for building and expanding the product line business, collaborating with sales, field service, customer service, repair/rebuild, supply chain, inventory, stockroom, manufacturing, and engineering resources. This position will be part of a project team executing installation of new/rebuilt equipment projects, hands on experience is a plus.

Travel required: 50%-70% of the time. Some international travel may be required periodically.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PRODUCT MANAGER, TWIN ROLL PRESSES:

Set-up and maintain a systemized method for the execution of engineering proposals and reference database so that new proposal work will be based on actual experience and also reflect the latest designs and profitability. Must be self-driven, able to work independently following the manager’s directives. Maintains an inquiry tracking database and a log of active and completed proposals, monitors the quotes, hit rate, and keeps up to date hot prospect listing. Reviews contract language to assure compliance with company guidelines and refer to our legal department as needed. Check all proposal work for accuracy and completeness prior to release for account manager/PSM and/or customer. Support PSM with technical need information and customers meetings in NA. Support customer on equipment trouble shooting. Verifies and updates cost basis for quotations and recommends design modifications or alternative sourcing to reduce cost. Assist the sales department in the gathering of field data and/or the presentation of the product to customers. Establish offer price consistent with market conditions and business plan requirements. Contributes to the design and implementation of promotion/training programs, i.e. Advertising, direct mail, sales force training etc. Creates a work environment in which innovation, entrepreneurship, and personal improvement is encouraged and supported. Responsible for product development as per the market needs and wants. Wil work closely with Engineering for problem resolution and proposal development. Assists the Senior Product Manager with forecasting including but not limited to warranty, hot prospects listing, potential bookings, and margins. Participates in Strategic Planning and the on-going auditing of this process. Contribute to periodic meeting with peers. Recommend product or process improvements. Monitors programs and procedures to ensure customer satisfaction. Assists in the resolutions of customer complaints and disputes by implementing corrective and preventive action as needed. Assists and recommends processes and improvements with respect to archiving our historical data for any current and future research needs. Other duties may be assigned.  Adhere to Valmet Inc. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals and directives.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College in Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent experience in engineering, plus sales and/or service-related activities. A “customer first” mind set. Understanding of pulp mill operation as it relates to the Twin Roll Press product line. Strong organizational skills related to product standardization and the setup/ maintenance of workflow operating systems is required. Capability to handle multiple and changing priorities. Strong inter-personal skills in dealing with internal and external customers. Excellent technical verbal and written skills required. Demonstrated computer skills, and ability to read mechanical, hydraulic and loop control drawings.

You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
