Job Summary: The Director, IT Project Management develops and directs Information Technology (IT) project management and strategic planning to meet the health system’s goals and objectives. This role provides overall governance for IT projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools used for effective project delivery. This role will also establish methodologies that set productivity and quality targets to assess results of projects that will continue to drive the health system forward in maintaining its mission and future growth.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Project Management, or related field. Master’s degree, preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) required or obtained within 4 years of employment.

Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven IT project or program management. Experience within a healthcare environment, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven knowledge of a variety of IT project management concepts, practices, and procedures. Analytical ability to solve both business and technical problems with a strong attention to detail. Strong critical thinking skills and disciplined approach to help leaders and leadership teams resolve issues and define solutions. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines. Ability to lead project teams of various sizes and see them through to completion.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Collaborates with IT and Operational leadership to recognize short- and long-range goals. Directs and controls the delivery of programs and projects across the health system, ensuring end to end program and project delivery. Reviews project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources in consultation with assigned project manager. Coordinates activities and direct project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget. Identifies, tracks, and manages measurements for success and critical path processes. Proactively identifies process and procedural failings and makes recommendations to resolve. Escalates and communicates potential issues or risks to leadership due to resource performance or capacity issues, technical challenges, or other unforeseen circumstances that arise and must be addressed. Develops and implements best practices and tools to increase efficiency, boost productivity, and achieve project and business goals that align with internal guidelines and industry standards. Coordinates, facilitates, and leads project team meetings to accomplish project deliverables and communicates progress to leadership. Conducts post project reviews to identify opportunities for improvement and provides feedback where appropriate.

Decision Making: Independent judgement in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.

Working Relationships: Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level and above.
