POSITION SUMMARY

Assumes a leadership role in building and maintaining effective relations in person and via web development between Loras College and its alumni and friends to advance the key objectives of the College.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Helps facilitate and promotes all alumni relations programs, events, activities, and initiatives, including work with regional Loras Alumni Networks. Travels, attends and hosts events as needed.
  • Leadership role in all Homecoming efforts including event and reunion planning, promotion and communication as well as assisting Annual Giving team with fundraising initiatives.
  • Coordinates Duhawk Day efforts with campus and alumni community in collaboration with the Annual Giving team.
  • Effectively collaborates with volunteers in establishing goals, setting priorities, and developing agendas for meetings and programs that actively engage alumni and the respective networks in the strategic direction of the College.
  • Collaborates with other departments, to include Admissions, Athletics, Development, Student Life, Spiritual Life and Experiential Learning, to help plan programming and communications designed to serve the needs of both alumni and students.
  • Works with the Director and Loras Marketing team in developing a comprehensive communication plan to all alumni to include digital/social and print strategies.
  • Administers email accounts, oversees website and helps update and maintain database information as needed.
  • Assist as needed with affinity group programming; working cooperatively with the development staff to increase alumni giving in the Loras Fund.
  • Assist in maintaining and expanding the Loras Future Alumni Network.
  • Collaborate with Director of Annual Giving in designing a programming and communication strategy specifically to increase engagement from graduates of the last decade or young alumni.
  • Extends hospitality to all alumni who visit campus.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a relevant field.

Experience: One to three years related experience in higher education, alumni relations or public relations work.


SKILLS & ABILITIES

Other Requirements: Skilled in the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Publisher and general web applications. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in developing and maintaining an effective alumni relations program. Appreciation for and commitment to Catholic, liberal arts higher education. Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to implement key communication initiatives through e-newsletter, website and other print and electronic correspondence. Ability to establish and maintain good social and working relationships with colleagues, alumni, parents and friends of the College. Ability and willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary. Ability to facilitate multiple projects, make decisions and meet deadlines. Ability to manage and motivate volunteers effectively and efficiently. Ability to identify problems and to develop creative, timely and efficient solutions.
