Under the general supervision of the Sports Program Director, the position plans, implements, and conducts club team practices to their assigned team, and attends, coaches, and helps facilitate all YMCA Club Sports events and tournaments. 

Responsibilities/Duties: 

Plan and implement practices for assigned teams on the days the team is assigned.  Host and plan monthly coaches and parent meetings.  Assist program director in marketing effort and social medica presence.  Monitor accounts receivable for the program.  Overseeing, coordinating, and conducting all SVCA Tournaments for the team.  Monitor, motivate, and discipline athletes on the team as necessary. The YMCA and Aviators Volleyball Club have an anti-bullying policy that all coaches must abide by when addressing athletes.  Follow and enforce Club team and facility rules and regulations with athletes and parents to create cohesion between the team.  Recognize emergency situations, perform CPR/AED and first aid as needed, and follow all safety procedures.  Attend all SCVA tournaments and all team practices and events.  Prescence at a minimum of two branch events per year.  Maintain good customer service and represent the YMCA in a professional and positive manner.  Monitor and assist in preparation of facilities for all Club team activities. Put up and take down volleyball net, ensure all equipment is in good repair and put away, keep rosters and attendance for every practice, check facility and gym after each team practice.  Manages finances of program including registration processing, processing payments, and implementing accounting best practices including reconciliation.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location. 

Education & Certifications: 

Must be 18 years of age  CPR and First Aid certified within the first 60 days of employment.  Basic certificate courses from accredited agencies such as CDC Heads Up Concussion Training, USA Volleyball & SCVA Coaching Membership, USA Volleyball Background Check, Safesport Training, IMPACT Coaching Certification

Experience & Background:

3+ years of volleyball coaching experience. 1+ year of prior experience in SCVA and USA volleyball

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent verbal communication skills. Strong customer and results orientation. Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures. Ability to be an effective member of project teams. Ability to explain and demonstrate basic exercise physiology principles to participants. Knowledge in aerobic/anaerobic and strength conditioning required.
