What work will you perform?
The Operations Manager leads both the Operations Support and Load Management teams in Landstar’s Rockford, IL facility. This position requires critical thinking and the ability to manage the reciprocal relationship between staff and all members of the organization with the intent of maintaining the reputation of the Landstar brand. You will be the escalation point for all types of issues involving a variety of stakeholders that will often require you to mediate solutions. The ability to make tough decisions while maintaining a positive attitude is paramount to being successful.
Essential Responsibilities:
Resolve escalated problems with field personnel, capacity, agents, customers and employees Review requests and make recommendations for termination or revoking approval of capacity Administer and/or approve company business funds, when needed Utilize staff to develop and implement new processes and regularly monitor and update department procedures, forms and training resources to meet LMS standards for both Operations Support and Load Management Group Assist with establishing effective KPIs and metrics and manage their attainment Ensure weekly and monthly metrics of individual coordinator and department statistics are compiled and distributed Identify opportunities to improve service trends among Agents, Capacity and Customers Support specific accounts, agents or projects, as requested which may require travel Assist with scheduling and leading monthly staff meetings and Agent Operational Reviews Identify opportunities for improvement and formulate strategies to strengthen their abilities to ensure a high level of service is maintained Create presentations and present to large audiences, including all levels of managementRequired Minimum Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent 2 years of experience and/or training in either customer service or transportationPreferred Experience and Education:
Associate’s Degree Prior experience as a people managerKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities Ability to deal with time constraints and effectively manage deadlines Excellent customer service, training, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills Ability to analyze and implement projects to meet customer needs Excellent written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of Microsoft applicationsWhy work at Landstar?
