The Validation Engineer is responsible for developing test strategies, systems, and documentation for Wabtec Train Handling products to ensure compliance to all standards, system requirements, and customer requirements. In this role, you will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and targeted company objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

Develop automated and manual test strategies to maximize Validation Team potential and efficiency by reviewing system requirements and developing test strategies. Develop test plans and procedures for testing fixed SW defects, SW Features, and System Level tests. Perform manual and automated testing to provide evidence of completed Test Plan. Aid in system setup and system integration testing. Investigate and thoroughly communicate software defects. Work closely with other engineering teams to ensure system functional and interface requirements are met. Identify execution, technology, and budget risks for the engineering scope. Provide estimates for work to be performed to support proposals and workload allocations. Will be required to communicate effectively with all engineering and managerial stakeholders including, at times, Wabtec customers. Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers including interns.

Qualifications/Requirements:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) OR in lieu of a degree: a HS diploma/GED and 5+ years of Freight Rail Validation experience and equivalent military experience/training. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  Travel ~10% per year. May require Foreign travel destinations. Must be legally able to obtain passport and visas for foreign travel.

Desired Characteristics:

Strong knowledge of validation test execution, requirements traceability, defect reporting, and automation concepts. NI-LabVIEW, and/or Teststand development skills. Demonstrated initiative, drive, communication, & interpersonal skills Freight Locomotive control Software Embedded Software Testing. Proven troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Good communication skills
