About the Position
The Department of History maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in temporary or limited-term teaching positions.
The Department, the College, and the University value teaching and we expect the temporary lecturer to be an exemplary teacher; to be current in their discipline; to engage students actively in their own learning, including discussion, writing, and analysis; and to maintain high standards regarding course content and evaluation of student work. We expect the successful candidate to provide students with feedback on their course work and examinations, and to be available to students through regularly scheduled office hours in keeping with department policy.
The successful candidate may expect to teach survey courses and/or lower/upper division courses according to departmental needs.
Required Qualifications Graduate degree in an appropriate field Demonstrated potential for effective teaching Demonstrated potential to work effectively with a diverse campus community, including a commitment to cultivating equitable learning environments for all students Preferred Qualifications PhD or ABD in an appropriate field Demonstrated successful teaching experience Conditions of EmploymentAll employees must comply with our Immunization policies, including within 60-days of hire.
