The Product Manager - Thermostats is responsible for leading the strategic direction, roadmaps, new product development, portfolio lifecycle management, annual planning, and commercialization of residential thermostats. This role will work closely with the Energy Solutions product manager to execute on our connected strategy of delivering value to carrier, our channel, and our homeowners.

Success will require the ability to think strategically, develop new go to market strategies, work collaborative across the organization and develop strong relationships with 3rd party suppliers and service providers.

This highly visible cross functional role will need to be able to effectively collaborate and drive to execution working with digital product teams, equipment product teams, engineering, marketing, and sales. Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor the message as appropriate for the audience is essential for success.

The successful candidate will have an innovative customer first mindset and be forward thinking striving to meet the future needs of the market. The candidate must have balanced knowledge between marketing, business, innovation and go to market strategy as well as be able to quickly learn and understand the technical aspects of DER (Distributed Energy Resource) products. Foundational skills for this role include understanding of the HVAC Market, understanding of thermostat controls, experience in developing go to market strategies, the ability to work cross collaboratively across the organization, the ability to work independently with minimal oversight, and general business management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Develops strategic vision and market entrance strategies for Carrier in the 24V thermostat space. Develops, defines, and drives new go to market strategies to the cross functional sales and marketing teams, helping in the development of necessary tools. Researches, develops, and manages New Product develop projects from conception through launch. Clearly articulate digital tool business requirements to ultimately deliver to the market homeowner preferred products that include the combination of physical and digital products. Differentiates and position physical and digital products to ensure customer value and optimize business return. Work with channel, sales, and marketing colleagues to define new go to market strategies in a multi-channel environment. Evaluates potential markets through financial feasibility studies, market research and planning. Works to develop strategic partnerships. Works regularly with equipment, controls, and digital product managers to build a market leading connected product portfolio. Clearly articulates product features and value at speaking events such as with internal stakeholders, distributor, dealer, sales, and recruitment meetings. Fosters cross function integration with product platforms.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree 7 + years of experience in one of the following: product management, Marketing, engineering, training, or Business Development

Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to pull data from multiple sources and synthesis in both graphic and verbal format, so that it is easily understood by the target audience. Proven ability to execute with speed and exhibit a bias for action mindset. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format across a wide audience. Strong ability to lead and develop diverse, cross-functional project teams to achieve high-performance levels in a dynamic, changing environment. Understanding of HVAC product applications and marketplace dynamics. Clear understanding of basic marketing principles Previous experience working with engineering and business/sales is preferred Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
