The Senior Business Analyst will be directly supporting and overseeing a portfolio of strategic projects and initiatives for regional operations. This role will be responsible for performing moderately complex activities under limited supervision as directed by the Senior Manager of Strategy and Special Projects or Senior Director within the region’s Central Analytics Team. The Senior Business Analyst will assist analytics and management in ensuring that project design, goals, and objectives are accomplished within specific deadlines and timeframes. This role will be highly collaborative with key stakeholders and Group and IPA operators – providing support in projects, pilots, and initiatives integral to the business. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a solid communicator, organized, process oriented, and able to perform with limited supervision. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum's commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each internal and external customerOversees all aspects of the project management cycle including scope planning, scope definition, activity sequencing, activity duration estimation, schedule development, resource planning, project plan development and maintenance, risk management, reporting, implementation, measures development, and project wrap-upManages relationships, communications and expectations with the project executive, sponsor, and relevant stakeholdersDevelops project plans; clearly defines the project objectives, scope and strategiesTracks team progress and project risks regularly; conducts data validation checks and effectively troubleshoots all issues and barriersIdentifies potential project risks and implements appropriate courses of action to address project slippage and develops strategies to mitigate future risksWorks to ensure that significant gaps and overlays do not exist across projects, efforts are combined when appropriate, and the timing and sequence of projects are appropriateBalances a multitude of projects ranging from low to moderate complexity. Showcases ability and discernment to compartmentalize competing prioritiesReports status regularly and escalates issues as appropriate to Manager and project sponsorsUtilizes standard processes, tools, methodologies and presentation templates including project timetables, progress reports, tracking, and report outsProduces project-related communications including online reports, minutes, agendas, action items, and records of team decisionsHelps ensure that key decision makers are involved to the appropriate degree in the appropriate aspects of the projectConducts and leads both formal and informal presentations to stakeholdersAssists in planning and coordinating with ongoing company projects as needed in order to maximize effectiveness of all related projectsExercises analytical abilities as needed for correspondence, tracking, and report-outWorks with Senior Manager of Strategy and Special Projects to promote effective team dynamics and provide performance feedbackUses, protects, and discloses Optum patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standardsPerforms additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in healthcare industry 2+ years of experience with business analysis and process improvement1+ years of specific experience with documenting processes and practices, often in accepted project methodology artifactsAdvanced level proficiency in PC-based business software skills (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Visio)Demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior leadership and other department directors/managers to define business process issues, analyze operational efficiencies, implement creative solutions, and measure delivery of service and productsDemonstrated ability to conduct and interpret qualitative and quantitative analysisHybrid role (office based in our Arcadia, CA office and remote)

Preferred Qualifications:

California Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70, to $, annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
