Description

JOBSUMMARY
  • Works closely with and is directlyresponsible to pathologists in preparing and interpreting papsmears and body fluid specimens. Trains and supervises staffassigned to cytology area in these procedures. Participates in EBUSprocedures as necessary to obtain proper specimens and provideadequate result turnaround time to the Physician. Responsible formanagement of Cytology to include regulatory compliance and budget.Maintains certification accreditation activities required byaccrediting agencies and the state and federal government.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Adheres to thehospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with thecore values mission and vision of the organization
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all jobfunctions as per departmental policies and procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas ofresponsibility (i.e. self education attends ongoing educationalprograms)
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatoryinservices and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing careto all patients based on age sex weight and demonstrated needs. Fornonclinical areas has attended training and demonstrates usage ofage specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protectiveclothing and equipment as appropriate.
WORKINGCONDITIONS
  • General environment: Works in awelllighted airconditioned area with moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or bodyfluids or infectious organisms.
  • May be required to changefrom one task to another of different nature without loss ofefficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress andfluctuating workloads may occur.
  • May be scheduled asneeded including overtime


Qualifications

EDUCATIONREQUIREMENTS
  • 4 year / Bachelors Degree inCytology (Required)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 3 years Cytology (Required)
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
  • Required Certifications/Licensures:Cytotechnologist (CTASCP)
