Position Summary:

The Manager of Financial Planning and Analytics is a highly driven leader responsible for supporting value creation through pro-forma analyses, ad-hoc analyses, reporting, and leading the productivity labor steering committee for Covenant Health. This position works closely and extensively with leaders throughout the enterprise. Develops key performance indicators measuring the financial health of the enterprise. Reviews past and present financial performance and develops models that assist management in understanding the financial impact of business decisions. This position not only requires a deep understanding of a variety of important datasets, but also the ability to make large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable, and usable to leaders within the enterprise.

Responsibilities Manages the financial planning and analytics team and serves as an analytical leader within the enterprise. Analyzes current and past trends in key performance indicators including areas of revenue, cost of services, expense, and capital expenditures. Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement across the enterprise and serves as a change agent to achieve improved results. Models Covenant’s long-range financial planning analysis for the enterprise, under the leadership of the VP of Finance and the EVP/CFO for Covenant Health. Partners with the accounting team to evolve systems and processes to ensure accurate detailed financial reporting. Participates in monthly and quarterly financial review meetings with accounting leadership and executive and senior leaders across the enterprise. Oversees and manages the continued development of financial forecasting, operating plan and proforma modeling tools. Serves as Covenant’s lead resource for financial proforma and model development, preparing and coaching others on standard elements of financial projections and modeling various scenarios as needed to optimize organizational decision making. Creates high-quality data deliverables in a timely basis to support VPs of Finance, along with senior and executive leadership. Presents analyses as needed to groups including executive leadership, hospital leadership, and others. Understands the business’s data needs as it pertains to financial reporting and maintains a strong knowledge of these needs through visits and communication with key leadership, including facility CFOs. Leads the labor steering committee for the enterprise. Develops benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance. Reviews authorization to hire requests for the enterprise. Approves or denies authorization requests based on current and previous productivity performance to target. Provides consultative, technical, and decision-making support to facility management regarding productivity and labor management initiatives. Partners with the Information Technology department regarding data strategies, developing KPIs for system projects and implementation, and maintenance of decision support software systems. Partners with Managed Care and the Business Office to support contract negotiations, developing and maintaining the contract database, and reviewing patient accounts for collection efforts. Identifies opportunities for revenue and actively assists with the development of pricing strategies, alternative payment models, and contracts. Demonstrates continuous learning and maintains a highly skilled workforce by aligning resource plans with business objectives, overseeing the recruitment, selection, and development of talent, and preparing individuals for growth opportunities and advancement. Works with industry vendors, consultants, and partners to understand data warehousing and business intelligence technology trends, identifying new technology development and data analysis techniques that may be useful. Is a trusted thought partner and analytical advisor to enterprise leadership, interacting with all business units, and corporate executives on related duties. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum Education:

BS in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline from an accredited academic program. Advanced Degree or CPA Required.

Minimum Experience:

Eight (8) years of healthcare financial experience. Experience with leading system project teams, clinical indicators and benchmarks, advanced report writing skills, detailed operational and processing knowledge in a healthcare financial environment.

Licensure Requirement:

Advanced Degree or CPA required.
