Job SummaryThe Coach Intern for Track & Field and Cross Country reports to the Head Coach of Track and Field. The successful candidate will be responsible to assist the head coach in all aspects of the program, including recruit qualified student-athletes, assist in practice sessions and in-game duties, counsel student-athletes in a positive manner, and adhere to all NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
- Coach Student Athletes
- Assist in meet management
- Identify and recruit qualified prospective student-athletes
- Assist with designing pre-season, in-season and off-season training schedules
- Maintain working knowledge of NCAA, Landmark Conference, and Susquehanna University policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics
EducationBachelor’s Degree required. Experience3-5 years of coaching or competitive collegiate experience in the events of sprints & hurdles required.
Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesAbility to directly lead and develop the men’s and women’s track & field team. A valid driver’s license is required.
Additional RequirementsThis role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual CSA training requirements.
Physical DemandPosition requires the ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds to constantly to move objects. Position requires the ability to frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Working conditions are indoor and outdoor.
