Job Summary

The Healthy Living Coordinator will facilitate coalition development and implementation of environmental prevention strategies to accomplish goals and objectives of the Union Alliance for Community Transformation (U-ACT) program. This role will provide resources, training, and support to increase protective factors, prevention, awareness, and opportunities for individuals supported by U-ACT.

Essential FunctionsProgram Management
  • Develop and implement project plans, in addition to preparing regular written and verbal updates for assigned projects.
  • Complete grant reports, as well as other related documentation, as required by the funder.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and actively build partnerships between programs in the organization.
  • Monitor budgets for the Union Alliance for Community Transformation (U-ACT) program.
  • Develop relationships that will drive funding and partnerships for future programming.
Collaboration and Coalition Building
  • Lead efforts to create and develop coalitions to reduce underage drinking and prescription drug use among youth in Union Parish.
  • Develop relationships to ensure that all necessary community stakeholders are represented.
  • Attend networking opportunities and regional coalition meetings to expand brand and knowledge of work.
  • Develop coalition frameworks and work plans.
  • Lead coalition activities including developing agendas, invite list, activities, evaluations, hosting meetings and managing follow up.
  • Provide ongoing support and direction to coalitions as they create and implement a strategic plan.
  • Network with community leaders, agencies, and organizations to support the work of U-ACT.
Budget And Fiscal
  • Responsible for daily program budget oversight.
  • Identifies and pursues additional funding sources to expand program activities.
  • Maintains internal accounting systems to insure accountability for program income, supplies, expenditures, inventory control and risk management.
  • Reports regularly to the Executive Director on budget and program status.
  • Reviews and authorizes all expenditures and disbursements before submission to Director of Budgets and Grants.
  • Participates in monthly fiscal meetings with Children's Coalition Budgets and Grants Director.
Supervision
  • Supervise, coach and mentor staff, students, and/or interns in the U-ACT program.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings and attends organizational staff meetings.
  • Sets goals, monitors, provides feedback and evaluates program staff according to position description.
  • Determines appropriate training needs to meet the program goals and objectives and makes the necessary recommendations.
  • Develops and supports the professional development plan for staff supervised.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Attend trainings, web-based or in-person, that benefit the U-ACT program.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and actively build partnerships between programs in the organization.
  • Participate in and create local events/programs to raise awareness of the issue of underage drinking and prescription drug use among youth.
  • Train and generate scheduling for U-ACT ambassadors and events.
  • Host monthly student ambassadors' meetings.
  • Assist with the coordination of the students to lead events such as Red Ribbon Week, Orange Ribbon Week and Take Down Tobacco Day.
  • Participate in professional development trainings.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Executive Director to fully develop and to facilitate the operation of the U-ACT program.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to Children Coalition children, families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood, social sciences, or related field required or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of four years' professional experience.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of adolescent development based on education, training, and experience working directly with youth and young adults.
  • Experience with coalition building and managing relationships with a range of stakeholders including community-based organizations and coalitions.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring project plans.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be team oriented and possess leadership abilities.
  • Strong commitment to Children's Coalition's mission, vision and values.
Working Conditions
  • Work is typically in an office setting.
  • Work hours are typically during normal business hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Evening and weekend work will be required for events and coalition meetings.
