Job Title: Store Manager

Reports To: Retail Director

Job Summary: The Store Manager is the key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations, staff management, administration, sales maximization, and brand representation. This role requires a high level of macro awareness, organizational ability, exceptional communication and excellent interpersonal skills, as it encompasses the management of all areas within the Sporty & Rich Retail Boutique, inclusive of Retail, Cafe and Spa.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Staff Management and Relationship Building:

  • Onboard, supervise, train, and mentor store staff, ensuring their performance meets or exceeds expectations as per their job description.
  • Own and conduct all staff communications across the board, including, daily quickstart meetings, daily individual check-ins, performance management conversations, disciplinary actions and standard performance reviews.
  • Develop and implement effective staffing schedules to optimize store operations and sales maximization as well as manage hours to reflect appropriate budget capacities as directed by the retail director.
  • Lead and foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, productivity, and professional growth.

  • Communicate with empathy, actively listening to concerns and providing constructive solutions.
  • Build positive relationships with team members, customers, and partners.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with upper management, peers, and your direct reports to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Serve as a liaison between the store and other departments or partners.

2. Store Operations and Business Acumen:

  • Oversee daily store activities, including opening and closing procedures within all 3 areas of the store, ensuring all areas of the store are set to standard and operating optimally.
  • Ensure that the store is clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times.
  • Collaborate with the product team to ensure the store and backroom have the right amount of product, are replenished appropriately and fully stock managed at all times. Communicate any requests or concerns to the Retail Director as needed.
  • Ensure that the back stockroom & staff area are set up optimally, cleaned and organized in a linear fashion. Sign off on this area on a daily and weekly basis, making any call outs and adjustments to protocol as needed to ensure these areas are set up for success from an operational standpoint.
  • Apply a deep understanding of business principles to make informed decisions.
  • Use financial acumen to manage budgets and day-today expenses as set out by the Retail Director.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving measures.

3. Sales Maximization:

  • Ensure the store is achieving the sales targets set in the monthly goal plan.
  • Develop and implement creative strategies to drive sales growth and meet store revenue targets.
  • Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Train staff in effective sales techniques and customer service to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee and validate the Sales Managers KPIs to ensure all areas of sales management are being optimized.

4. Administration:

  • Handle all administrative tasks whether through delegation or direct execution in an organized, thorough and timely manner, including:
  • Payroll.
  • Schedule.
  • Lias with HR on all documentation inclusive of hiring, firing and employee records.
  • Lias with Accounting on tax documentation.
  • Operational requests inclusive of repairs, work orders, cleaners.
  • Supply management inclusive of the order preparation.
  • Shipping & receiving client or head office requests.
  • Sending & replying to all store account emails as well as general emails between business partners, the retail director, owner and head office staff.
  • Any other items or tasks that are required for the store to operate optimally.
  • Prepare and submit a daily recap by end of each business day, to all outlined partners and summarize key performance metrics, sales figures, and operational highlights as well as provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Implement and refine organizational systems that enhance store efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure that all tasks, whether operational or administrative, are executed promptly and efficiently.
  • Develop and implement task management systems to track progress and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Lead by example in demonstrating a disciplined approach to work.

5. Brand Representation:

  • Promote the store's brand image and values through store standards, personal style and customer interactions.
  • Ensure that the store environment in all 3 areas and customer service reflects the brand's identity and aesthetic.
  • Act as a brand ambassador within the local community.

6. Exceptional Leadership:

  • Lead by example, demonstrating discipline, a strong work ethic and dedication to the store's success.
  • Motivate and inspire the store team to achieve their best performance.
  • Hold all employees to a high standard and provide clear direction and guidance to the store team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. This includes providing in the moment feedback, daily touch bases (as needed) and on-going assessments so that all employees know where they stand.
  • Resolve customer complaints and employee issues in a professional and timely manner.

Role KPIs:

  • Ability to achieve and exceed store sales goals on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Which includes entrepreneur minded solutions to maximizing sales when the store is not meeting the goals.
  • Ability to execute on all administrative and operational tasks at the highest level which includes thoroughness, accuracy, timeliness and strong communication to all relevant parties.
  • Ability to build and foster strong relationships with all of your direct and indirect reports where they look to you for all of their guidance, requests and developmental needs.
  • Demonstrate discipline, organization and commitment to the business at the highest level, at all times.
  • Communicate in an effective, professional and timely manner with your Retail Director, head office team and all cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative to own all operational and administrative tasks, communicating bottom up with action items, suggested COAs and entrepreneurial ideas to effectively drive sales, manage the business in an optimal manner and resolve any obstacles that may arise within day-to-day operations.
  • Develop a team of A-players within the store roster, demonstrating consistent growth amongst all employees based on your proven leadership abilities to lead by example, inspire, motivate and performance manage the team.
  • Assess all store employees on a regular basis, making sound recommendations for promotions, remunerations, performance management and terminations based on the business and brand objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in Retail Management.
  • Proven experience in a senior role (District Manager, Area Manager or Senior Store Manager) with a track record of success across all areas.
  • Familiar with Sporty & Rich, understand the brands ethos, style and client and believe you are a natural fit to represent us.
  • Intrinsically positive and passionate, caring about health and wellness, self development and being the best version of yourself.
  • Proven ability in executing big picture management with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, integrity and proven ability to carry through the company's vision top down.
  • Proficiency in retail software and administrative communication platforms.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed - leads by example.
  • Plus: Post-secondary education in the fields of Communications, Fashion or Business.
